Lots on my mind this Monday…

What’s on my mind this Monday Morning? Two key topics are on my mind….
Screen Shot 2016-01-18 at 8.09.08 AMFirst and foremost money laundering has reared it’s ugly head here in Florida again.  Not that this is the first time but our state has some amazing properties that are selling at extraordinarily high prices and all cash.  Now that’s good… and bad: some areas of the federal government tend to take a hard look at these transactions.  At one time they wanted REALTORS to get more involved as to where the money was coming from, but thankfully NAR stepped in and that idea ended up in the waste bin. The Treasury Department, concerned about money-laundering in luxury real estate, has put a call out for title companies to identify the people behind cash-paying companies that buy high-end residential real estate…I mention it here as we have to be aware.  For more information and to stay on top of this issue click here.

Also, several tornadoes tore through the West coast of Florida yesterday, so if any of Screen Shot 2016-01-18 at 8.04.50 AMyouFlorida REALTORS know of members that have had difficulties with the storms let us know…we can help with our Disaster Relief Funds.  For more info and application process, click here.

So my fellow REALTORS, stay safe, stay aware and let’s be careful out there!! And as my little friend Dante always says: “When it’s raining cats and dogs, be careful not to  step in the poodles”.

Until Next Monday…
