I watched the Kentucky Derby on Saturday. Interestingly the trainer of the horse that won, previously left empty handed three times in seven years and the horse’s owner had come in second three times in a row…until Saturday I was amazed at the desire and commitment in both men. I read a quote by Mario Andretti that seems perfect for the Derby winners: Desire is the key to motivation, but it’s determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal – a commitment to excellence – that will enable you to attain the success you seek.
Look at both of the men involved with the winning horse at the Derby. Both had almost achieved success, the trainer, several times had been number one but the Owner had tried three times and never got there. Most people would have quit and picked up their toys and gone home. Many of us would also. It is only that inner fire, that no guts no glory, that I hate to lose, that keeps many of us going.
Are you among the first group or the second? It is interesting to reflect inward and see what we are made of and how far would we would go. So my fellow REALTORS, let’s stoke that inner fire and along the way be good to each other.
Until Next Monday…
