As I was working with my Buyers this week, I ran across an article that brought to light some of the mistakes home Buyers make. We often think Buyers are educated about the market place – we assume they all do a lot of market research on line before they find a REALTOR. Not So…that’s where we, as REALTORS, really begin to “help” most Buyers.
Another mistake a lot of Buyers make: They don’t shop for a mortgage. Many Buyers think that their hometown bank is THE place to obtain a mortgage. They need to shop around, compare all costs, and while they are at it. Buyers also need to understand closing costs and a total figure for purchasing a home. Another tip: Buyers need to make sure their credit is strong, if not, they need to work on it prior to purchase… as their loans costs may be lower with good credit.
Another mistake often made by Buyers: Many want to forgo inspections. Even with new construction, inspections are necessary. They will save money and headaches in the long run.
To sum up the article: Help your Buyers to understand all the aspects of purchasing a home…help your Buyers to purchase their home with their Eyes Wide Open! They will thank you for it and refer their friends and family to you…their REALTOR!
Until Next Monday…
