Office Policy

Office Policy, what is that you say? If you are the Broker of the office, you should/must have an office policy and you should update it every year.  First of all, it explains all your policies of the operation of the office and real estate business policiesAll, and I repeat: ALL of your agents, should sign and date every year.  It explains everything that relates to the office and real estate sales: i.e. dress code, escrow, insurance, laws, rules and anything else that you can think of…and then some.

Many Brokers have a policy in place but never change it.  Laws change every year and thatsign part of the policy must change with it.  Once your policy is complete there should be no question un-answered for an agent coming to work.  So, why does everyone need to sign and date?  Liability. If an agent violates one of the aspects of the policy and you can’t prove you gave them the policy, liability exists.  Brokers are always responsible for their agents  but there is mitigation if an agent signs and then violates.  So check your office policy…make sure it is updated and has everyone signed for the year.  Better safe than sorry.

Until Next Monday…
