Halloween is almost here. Do you remember when you were a child and it was Halloween? We never bought costumes – we made them. We didn’t know any better! We painted our faces or wore a hankerchief around our heads: a pirate. Took an old sheet and made holes in it and: a ghost.
Candy? We got homemade cupcakes, apples, candy bars, sometimes real store-bought candy. As we passed our friends in the street, we shared what house was giving out the best treats. Our parents didn’t go with us – we only went within 2 or 3 blocks of our homes. No one worried: it was our neighborhood.
So you ask, what does this have to do with real estate…since I always write about real estate? This does relate to real estate. Think for a minute – we have all the technology in the world: lead generators, programs to keep track of our clients. Making our Halloween costumes is like our business – regular ingenuity for developing our own sales programs. Remember farming – Staking out an area and knowing anyone and everyone in that area? Constant contact…word of mouth…who has the best treats: our neighborhood!
So my fellow REALTORS…I am not negating technology as it certainly helps us in our business, but some of the old tried and true ways can also help us.
