As I returned from the NAR convention in Orlando, I learned some amazing information. I knew we had International Buyers as I am from Miami, but more are coming and they are researching more and more areas of the U.S.
There are over 4.5 million active listings on Realtor.com International and over 1/4 of those are international listings. We always knew we had global Buyers but more US Buyers are looking Globally to buy.
So where are international Buyers looking when they search the US.? Depending on the country:
Canada: Chicago, Las Vegas, Miami, Los Angeles, Ft. Lauderdale (mostly warm climates), United kingdom: Los Angeles, Orlando,New York, Kissimmee, Germany: Las Vegas,San Antonio, Colorado Springs, Cape Coral, Mexico: San Diego,Laredo, San Antonio,El Paso, Japan: Jacksonville, San Diego, Honolulu, Russian Federation: Los Angeles,New York, Miami, San Francisco, Orlando… these are just to name a few.
So what if you don’t live near these areas or states, never fear, many of the international Buyers are open to other areas but they need to be educated about these areas. You as a Realtor need to educate them. Put your listings on the international websites, Proxio is one good website. Your listings can be translated into multiple languages. Familiarize yourself with several countries you are interested in, educate yourself in their customs and habits. The internet is a great place to start. Go to the international area of Realtor.com and begin to develop a relationship with many of our international partners. NAR has bilateral agreements with just about every country and their real estate organizations and some countries have multiple organizations that NAR is involved in. In no time you can be involved in international business. Remember international relationships do take time, as the global buyer needs to trust you, but once they do, you will have friends/clients for life.
So get busy and begin your international journey.
Until next time, let’s be good to each other, let’s be Realtors!
