How do you spell stress?

Several weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to return to teaching, if only for a short time.  I taught Stress Management to several groups of individuals engaged in the real estate business.  Our world as we exist in it is full of stress, from our environment, work, relationships, families – you name it and it will cause you stress.  Just our communication devices alone can drive us nuts.  We can’t seem to put them down.  Some people sleep with their cell phones! Stress is all around us. So how do we cope with it and not go nuts?

Diet:  You are what you eat.  Sugar, salt, caffeine, processed foods – they’re all culprits.  Read labels.  Be aware what you put in your body.

Exercise:  Yeah I know, who has time?  Park your car further away and walk, go up the stairs instead of using the elevator.  While on the phone, walk around your desk. Ride a bike, walk around your neighborhood, anything to release the toxins in your system from a stressful day!

Meditation: Sit quietly for 10-15 minutes, close your eyes and focus on something pleasant.  I know it is difficult to empty your mind and relax.  If you can however, it will relax you, lower your blood pressure, give you a more positive outlook for the day, week and beyond.

Try to do several of these ideas and you will be happier, live a longer life and maintain a healthy body and mind.

For those of you that will be attending the Florida REALTORS Convention this week – drive carefully and enjoy the education, the speakers, the expo, the networking and yes…have a good time!
