What an amazing 2 days: The annual Great American REALTOR® Days, April 12-13, 2011, at the state’s capital in Tallahassee during the current Florida Legislature. Tallahassee was filled with more than 1,000 REALTORS® from across the state as we joined forces to meet with our legislators and discuss concerns affecting all Florida residents and visitors.
During Great American REALTOR® Days, REALTORS®
attended various Legislative Briefings hosted by Florida REALTORS® and prepared for our one-on-one sessions with lawmakers, which occurred throughout the two days. On Tuesday, April 12, a REALTOR® event featured a Downtown Block Party at the Adams Street Commons. On Wednesday, April 13, Great American REALTOR® Days concluded with a Luncheon at the Capitol Courtyard. Over 1000 of us filled the area between the house and senate for the Luncheon while we listened to the Governor and many of his cabinet address us.
We were here and we were heard! Our legislators welcomed us into their offices and heard our concerns. Many of them were in agreement with our concerns, some had questions with the areas we considered most important. Many took our business cards and asked if they could call on us for input.
I was amazed, happy and proud to be a Florida REALTOR®. We compete for listings and sales everyday but when you get right down to it, we unite for our common goals: private property rights and real estate.
I would love to hear from my fellow REALTORS® who attended Great American REALTOR® Days – Was it what you expected? What impressed you most? Will you go back next year? Let me hear from you!
Be kind to each other – Let’s be proud to be Florida REALTORS®
Until Next Monday,
